Recreation in Hammonds Plains/Tantallon, Nova Scotia

There are few indoor recreation facilities located in the Hammonds Plains/Tantallon but there are still many recreational opportunities in and close to the community.
The area does have an excellent community center called the St. Margaret's Center. It has an olympic size rink, a second rink, an outdoor pool, gymnasium and fitness center. This facility is located in Tantallon in front of the Westwood Hills Subdivision and next to the Hubley Center Shopping Center.
The area has several outdoor sports fields which are used for soccer, baseball and other sports.
Many of the recreation activities take place in Halifax, Clayton Park, Sackville or Bedford. Most activities are only a few minute drive away.
For indoor swimming many Hammonds Plains/Tantallon residents go to the Canada Games Center in Clayton Park, Sackville Sports Stadium in Sackville, Dalplex at Dalhousie University or the Spryfield Wave Pool. All are 15-20 minutes drive away. In the summer many residents swim in the many lakes in the area or use the outdoor pool at St. Margaret's Center or the Lion's Pool in Bedford.
For hockey or ringette residents will use the rink in St. Margaret's Center, BMO center ( 4 rinks) in Bedford, one of the two rinks in Sackville or many of the other rinks throughout metro. Like anywhere, if you are involved in hockey in metro your games and practices will vary throughout metro and could be anywhere from within your community to an hour drive away.
Outdoor water sports are enjoyed in the many lakes in the community. The salt water beaches of the south shore such Queensland and Hubbards are a 15-20 minute drive away. The area is very well located to take advantage of this feature and many of the residents do just that.
The Hammonds Plains/ Tantallon area has lots of recreation opportunities for all ages and interests. If not in the community itself they are found a short drive away.
